What are my Chances for getting into Medical School? - A Simple Guide

To help answer all these future questions concerning competitiveness and chances, I have created a medical school admissions flow chart that will help you solve this problem. I present you the official guide to determining and assuring your chances for medical school. I originally created this flow chart for a forum, where the constant question of WAMC always came up. Occasionally there would be trolls in the forums that would post obvious false stats, I have incorporated how to deal with them in the flow chart. Enjoy!

Thanks for this wonderful chart, I came in US on 2005, I have GED and I m associate degree (69 credits hr) here in PA state, and I would like go to medical school, I did check mcat test online, and I think I will be ok because I did study biology, chemistry and physique in university in my country, I need only some review because I did studied this materials on 2001 to 2004. My question is: I take the mcat test or I must go to 4 years university first, what are exactly my chances of getting into Medical School? I start from studing university or taken the mcat test or ….?

Originally, I made this flow chart for a premed forum. On forums there are trolls who post blatantly fake stats. So all inflated stats belong to these troll posts.

Awesome chart… But if you don’t mind me asking, what software did you use to make it?

  13. Using a flow chart made it easier for your readers to understand your topic. I also use flow charts especially when I want to illustrate a process.

  14. Danny says:

@Lee - it looks like Mindjet (or some other mindmapping software) to me? I bet if you printed it out it would take qauite a few sheets of paper! (But look great on your wall!)

On the topic of what program I used - I made the flow chart with a free trial program. Can’t even remember which one I used.

  15. Kim says:

Wow! Thats a pretty elaborate flowchart. Having some kind of a blueprint or flowchart before you get into anything can be really helpful. I think it can help you steer into the right direction and can give you the right perspective of looking at things. I love flowcharts though

  16. Dan Brusca says:

Great flowchart - that required a fair amount of zooming and panning! Liked the humorous asides with links to the troll!

What does it mean by, “a highly distinguished activity” in the extracurriculars section. Would being a nationally high ranked athlete count?
